A Day Off

After a week of constant running around, today was a day for relaxation - in other words, a day off from all the craziness that has classified my first week in London. This was probably a good idea, considering I seem to have come down with a cold. I shouldn't be surprised, seeing as yesterday I spent 5 hours straight walking around in the freezing cold! I guess my body is trying to send me a message to take it easy for a couple days.

My only errand today was the Sainsbury's (grocery store) and Chapel Market (farmer's market) to stock up on some more food so that I can start really cooking in my kitchen. Going on a Sunday, though, was probably a bad idea, because Sainsbury's was absolutely swamped. In the future, I'll definitely try to go shopping at off-days and off-times.

The rest of the day I basically sat in my room and did some reading for my only class tomorrow, my Government and Politics of South Asia Tutorial. The reading was pretty interesting, and I think it's going to be a good course. Since I only have one class tomorrow, I had been planning on trying to get to center city to perhaps see some more of the sites up close. But, considering my recent cold and the fact that it is scheduled to rain all afternoon, it looks like I'll have to postpone my trip. I'll probably spend some time in the SOAS library to do some reading after class; and maybe try to wait-out the rain until I have to walk back to my dorm. I also need to start doing some research on travel, as not only do I have a three-day weekend every week, but I also have a reading week coming up in mid-February, which means a full week to travel (I mean honestly, do they really expect us to read for a full week? That's rubbish)! Luckily, I got an awesome Christmas gift from my brother, John, to help me research and plan.

Thanks, John! You da bomb.
For dinner I made chicken nuggets from Sainsbury's, which were actually pretty delicious. I also officially met the last of my flatmates (ha, only took a week). She is from China, and is here studying business and math.

My kitchen!
Where incredible meals will most certainly be crafted...Ha, I wish.
I'm definitely missing my family a little extra tonight, as it's Golden Globes night, which is always a fun night in the Weicher household. I know they're ordering Chinese and relaxing, and I have to admit, I'm a little bit jealous! But, then I realize that I'm in London, so I need to put things in perspective. One parting thought: GO HOMELAND!
