I Could Get Used to This...

This whole no classes on Friday thing...yeah, I could totally get used to this.

I slept in today to catch up from a long and stressful week of picking classes. My first stop of the day was the SOAS main campus to finally turn in my registration form. I'm officially enrolled in the four classes I chose, and I have to admit, it's quite a relief.

After turning in our forms, Eric and I headed to ULU, the University of London Student Union. Because SOAS is technically a part of the University of London, SOAS students have access to the same facilities, such as the gym, cafes, and we can receive special discounts for events. After filling out some forms, I can hopefully get my official ID card next week.

After walking around the neighborhood a bit, we ventured to Argo's again so that I could grab a desk lamp (this room is just too dim sometimes), laundry hamper, and a firmer pillow (a jumbo airplane pillow can only last me so long). We stopped at Pret A Manger for coffee and a snack, and to rest our legs from all the walking. 

This might be tough to resist...

For dinner, I used my kitchen for the first time! I made pasta, so nothing fancy, but it was at least nice to know for sure that everything in there works. I also met some more of my flatmates that I hadn't had a chance to talk to yet. It looks like we have 1 Brit, 1 German, 1 Korean, 1 Chinese, and 1 American (me). It will be fun getting to know everyone as we get farther into the term!

After dinner, Eric and two of our new friends, Allegra and Heling, headed to our first pub, The Queen's Head (does it get more English than that?), to celebrate the end of our first week in London! It was a really fun experience. Pubs definitely seem like the places to be around here, and I'm looking forward to trying out new spots!

Tomorrow should be a great day - the BC London students are having a sightseeing day! We are starting with a 2-hour bus tour, followed by lunch at a riverside pub, and ending with a walking tour of the Southbank area. I'm super excited, especially since I really haven't had much of a chance to venture outside of my immediate SOAS area! I'll be sure to take lots of pictures. Until then, goodnight!
