That's right, this girl. It only took me 3 days, but I actually attended two courses today (State and Politics in Africa and Politics of Development) that I plan on officially registering for. If that's not a success after these past few days, I don't know what is!
To be serious, I really enjoyed both of my classes today. The lecturers were very interesting and showed great passion and excitement for what they were teaching. I'm a little nervous for Politics and Development just because it does deal with some basic economics, but I should be fine considering it is focused mostly on politics. Tomorrow I have my final two lectures: Violence, Identity and Politics in Modern East and Northeast Africa and Government and Politics of South Asia.

After class I got lunch in the Student Union, or the JRC. The place is so cool, unlike anything at Boston College. There is a pub downstairs, rock music in the background, pool tables, and crazy graffiti all over the walls. And, the chicken club sandwich I ate was pretty good, so that's definitely a plus!

I was also able to take care of a few things today that I had been meaning to get, such as buying an oyster card, which allows me to ride the tube (subway). I also finally got my official SOAS ID card. Lastly, I bought a new coffee mug so that I can return to my coffee/tea routine (I've been suffering).

This evening was Welcome Drinks for the new exchange students, and it was a lot of fun! It was a great opportunity to meet students I hadn't met before, and just relax and take a break from all the craziness of this first week.
On the way back to Dinwiddy, Eric and I stopped at a restaurant just 2 blocks away, called The Big Chill House. It was such a cool place, and apparently there is live music a few nights a week. I definitely plan on going back!
Tomorrow is a big day as well, as it is the Welcome Dinner for all of the Boston College students studying in London this semester. We're going to an Italian restaurant in Soho - which means I'll be taking the tube for the first time. Mind the Gap!
